Tankless Water Heaters

What is a Tankless Water Heater?

Consider plumbing to be your home’s vital arteries. Your plumbing system supplies critical fluid — hot water, for example — to critical areas of your home at critical times. At the center of this system is your hot water heater. If it fails to perform as needed, everything it supports — showering, bathing, washing clothes, dish washing — will fail as well.

Over the years, gas and electric hot water heaters that use water ‘tanks’ have been the traditional means of providing hot water in your home. However, newer and improved technology now allows for ‘tankless’ hot water heaters to be used which offer customers many more benefits.

A tankless water heater, also known as an instantaneous or on-demand water heater, heats water as it flows through the device without the need for a storage tank. These water heaters provide hot water only when needed, offering advantages such as energy savings, unlimited hot water supply, reduced space requirements, and lower risk of water damage compared to traditional tank-type water heaters.

Tankless water heaters can be powered by electricity, natural gas or propane gas with gas models typically providing higher flow rates. While they may have higher initial costs, they are far more energy-efficient and durable, lasting up to 20 years or more which actually allows customers to save money. Installation costs are often offset by rebates from the manufacture.
