What this means for your pipes
Conway's older houses stand in places like the Robinson Historic District and the Hendrix College Addition, one of the first subdivisions platted in town, where Craftsman houses went up in the 1920s. The Village at Hendrix, a planned neighborhood on 100 acres across from campus, got its start in 2006. Nearly half of Conway's homes were built in 2000 or later, and nearly two in three in 1990 or later.
Plenty of homes built between 1978 and the mid-1990s went in with polybutylene water lines, a plastic pipe that is mostly gray.
So the plumbing depends on the street. In the older houses, corroded pipe may mean a new section or a whole repipe, and the pipe's material and age decide which. In the newer ones, a failing water heater gets the same look: we weigh how old it is, the shape it's in and whether parts are available. You get our findings, and the price, before the work.

Water, backups and permits
Water. Conway Corp draws the city's water from Brewer Lake, near Plumerville.
Sewer. When a drain line slows down or stops, Conway Corp wants your call before a plumber's, so it can check its main at no charge. If the main is clear, the trouble is in your private line, the pipe that runs from the house to the main, and fixing that takes a plumber.
Permits. The Permits & Inspections office at City Hall on Main Street issues them. The work has to meet the 2018 Arkansas Plumbing and Fuel Gas Code, with the city's own amendments. Inspections are booked at least a business day ahead, and work isn't supposed to begin until the permit is issued.
Where we work
From the Robinson district to the Village at Hendrix
We take jobs all across the city, in the old streets around the Robinson district and the Hendrix College Addition and in the newest neighborhoods. In Faulkner County we also serve Mayflower, and our other towns are in Pulaski, Lonoke, Saline and Garland counties.
Asked and answered
Is a sewer backup in Conway a job for Conway Corp or a plumber?
Start with Conway Corp, at (501) 450-6000. It checks its own main first and doesn't charge for that. If the main is fine, the clog or break is in your line, and that's when to call us.
Is it hourly, or a set price?
That depends on the work. Simple service is billed by the hour. Big jobs are priced per job, with a free estimate. Water repipes, reroutes, and new sewer or water lines are the big ones.
Does the plumbing need its own permit in Conway?
Yes, the city issues plumbing permits apart from building permits, through its Permits & Inspections office, and it inspects the work. Questions about a permit go to (501) 450-6107.
What lake does Conway's water come from?
Conway Corp names Brewer Lake, near Plumerville, as the source. It treats the water at its Roger Q. Mills plant.
When can I reach you?
We're open on weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., and we don't take night or weekend calls.
Who will work on my house?
A Victory tech with a state plumbing license does the work. We work under master license MP #6781 and carry insurance.
Can you help a business, not just a home?
Yes, we repair plumbing for businesses. Drain clearing is the one job we don't do for them.
Plumbing trouble? Call the shop.
A licensed tech will track down the cause before anyone talks about the fix.
