What this means for your pipes
The oldest blocks sit in the Quapaw Quarter, the part of town inside the city limits of 1900. Hillcrest began as the streetcar suburb of Pulaski Heights, platted from the 1890s into the 1920s, and joined Little Rock in 1916. After that the city spread west. Interstate 630 was finished in 1977, and from 1990 it opened up Chenal Valley, 7,000 acres added along the western edge. Most homes in the city went up in 1970 or later.
If your house dates from 1978 to the mid-1990s, its water lines may be polybutylene, a plastic pipe that is usually gray.
A pipe is as old as the house around it, unless someone has replaced it. When an old run has corroded, its age and material decide whether one section can be replaced or the house needs a repipe. Whatever year your house was built, we start by finding the problem and tell you about it before any work begins.

Water. In 2001 the Little Rock and North Little Rock water systems combined as Central Arkansas Water.
Sewer. LRWRA looks after more than 1,400 miles of public sewer pipe. The pipe from your house out to that public main is yours, and so is its upkeep. If the cap on your cleanout is missing or broken, LRWRA will put a new one on at no charge; an open cleanout lets rainwater and debris into the line.
Help with a new sewer line. When the owner of a single-family home replaces the sewer line to the main, LRWRA pays back up to $2,500. Apply before the work starts; the job needs an LRWRA permit, and LRWRA inspects the new line. A $1 monthly charge on home sewer bills pays for the program.

Will Little Rock help pay for a new sewer line?
The city's sewer utility, LRWRA, may. It pays back up to $2,500 when the owner of a single-family home replaces the sewer line to the main, with an LRWRA permit and inspection. Apply first, at (501) 688-1426, before any digging starts.
How do you price a job?
Simple service is billed by the hour. Big jobs are priced per job, with a free estimate. A water repipe, a reroute, and a new sewer or water line all count as big jobs.
Who issues plumbing permits in Little Rock?
The city's Building Codes Division issues them and inspects the work. For LRWRA's sewer line reimbursement, the replacement also needs an LRWRA permit.
Who owns the sewer line between my house and the street?
You do. LRWRA counts the line from the house to the public main as the property owner's, along with its repairs.
The cap on my cleanout is missing. Who replaces it?
LRWRA will cap it at no charge. Call the utility at (501) 376-2903. Until it's capped, rain and debris can get into your sewer line.
Is your company licensed and insured?
Yes. The company holds master plumber license MP #6781, each tech has an Arkansas license, and we carry insurance.
Do you work nights or weekends?
No. Nights and weekends, the shop is closed; our hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes, we do plumbing repairs for businesses. Clearing drains is the one job we keep to homes.
